| - - Widely known as the home of Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Santa Clarita Valley is located approximately 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles on Interstate 5. This triangular-shaped valley of rugged natural beauty (known as SCV by local residents) is about 200 square miles. It is surrounded by the Santa Susanna, San Gabriel and Sierra Pelona Mountain ranges. Deemed as the 6th safest city in the nation by the F.B.I. in 2001, this region is one of the most desireable locations in Los Angeles County for new homebuyers. As of 2001, SCV had approximately 187,000 residents and 73,000 jobs. - The Santa Clarita Valley enjoys a mild Southern California Mediterranean climate. Summers are dry and warm with temperatures reaching on average from 75 to over 100 degrees. Winters here are mild with daytime temperatures in the 40 to 65 degree range. Rainfall averages 15-18 inches a year, pre-dominantly during November to April. - SCV is comprised of seven communities: Valencia, Stevenson Ranch, Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country, with the outlying areas of Val Verde and Castaic also considered a part of the SCV. - The Santa Clarita Valley includes virtually all aspects of life - from home to work, to schools and parks, to shopping and entertainment and a hospital. With all this and boating and skiing nearby, SCV is an ideal location to live and raise a family. |
